We start with what is causing the problem
Some students come to me because programming has stopped making sense. Others know the theory but struggle to turn it into exam marks.
We normally start with whatever is causing the most difficulty and work from there. That might mean going back over a topic, working through code together or practising exam questions.
I explain the idea, ask the student to try it and adjust the lesson depending on what they understand. There is no fixed script.
Parents can receive a short update after lessons where that is useful.

For A-Level NEA work, I can help students develop their ideas, think through how to build their solution and understand how to structure their own write-up. I can also teach relevant concepts and help them debug their own code. The assessed work must remain the student’s own.

I teach Computer Science because I enjoy making it understandable
I am a qualified teacher and currently work as a lecturer. I have taught Computer Science at GCSE, A-Level and university level.
My background includes a PGCE with QTS, an MSc in Cyber Security and a BSc in Computer Information Systems. I am also Enhanced DBS checked.
I tend to work best with students who need a patient explanation, time to ask questions and plenty of practice. Lessons are practical and focused on the work in front of us.

Who are lessons for?
GCSE and A-Level Computer Science students anywhere in the UK. Students can come for regular weekly tuition or help with a particular topic.
Which exam boards do you teach?
I teach OCR, AQA, Edexcel, Eduqas/WJEC and other UK specifications. If you are not sure which exam board the school uses, I can help identify it.
Are lessons online?
Yes. Lessons are online and one-to-one. Students need a computer, a reliable internet connection and somewhere suitable to work.
Can you help with A-Level NEA?
Yes, within the rules. I can help students develop their ideas, think through how to build their solution, understand how to structure their own write-up and debug their own code. I cannot write the code or documentation, complete assessed sections or tell a student exactly what to submit. Read the A-Level Computer Science NEA guide.
